our story

Yellowbird Coffee Bar got its name from a little yellow bird that kept vigil, and often returned for visits, during the final days of the life of John’s father, Roger. John wanted to share the warm memories of family and home when he envisioned yellowbird - a place where you could go at anytime to just hang out, to talk, to work, to eat, to bond.

John and his two kids live in the neighborhood, just steps from Yellowbird’s space. In their 15+ years here, he has always wanted a place he could walk to, to unwind from the day, to gather with friends, and to propel him along on his journey.  After a number of life-altering events encouraged some reprioritizations, JP decided to find work that nurtured his soul - and yellowbird coffee bar was born.
